Whats the big deal!!!?
Im in love with music..so of course im in the school choir..we sing alot of gospel “religious” songs..we have sang songs like “O sifuni Mungu” ( a Swahili song wich means all creatures praise the Lord….its the choirs Favorite) We sing originals like “O happy Day” ,and “Joyful, Joyful” and of course for Christmas we sing regualar hymnals and fun songs like Rudolph for the kids. But some random kid is wanting to complain that our songs are religious and its against some rule..no one has a problem with it..nor does our director..alot of them who dont believe in God…I dont see what the big deal is..how are we harming anyone by singing theese songs (wich everyone seems to like especially the audience)
Yesa i do go to a public highschool..and my director doesnt pik theese songs because the are “religious” its because they are good songs but he also lets us pick what songs we want to sing.
I don’t know any atheists who object to traditional seasonal songs… you probably just have a drama queen on your hands…
Oh Happy Day is probably one of the better traditional spirituals… and I’m an atheist. I like Rudolph, too. I don’t have to believe in Rudolph to enjoy the song…
