So, I’m in a predicament with my wife…?
When I met my wife, I was ‘hot for God’…Now, I like to drink (according to her a little too much; that doesn’t mean much to me though – of course for her it’s a different story.) I play country music and I’m only 29, so Nashville ain’t too far off..especially since I live in Cincinnati… The long and the short of it is that Christianity means so much to her that she doesn’t want me to drink (have a few when I write) or pursue my country music likings (she wants me to be some sort of Phil Vassar, and I want to be some sort of Hank Williams Sr./Jr./III). Now, I do have 2 OVI’s…but in my defense, I did call the ‘po-po’ on myself for religious purposes. Both times were avoidable…Anyway, what does it take for a court to recognize ‘irreconcilable differences’? I want to be a drunk “loser,” whereas my wife wants me to be a clean/rough cut Christian.
Your wife needs to back off. She is called to maintain her own salvation ….not yours. For years I was bound in Legalism and Jacked my man up for not towing the line.
Submission to Christ is a CHOICE only we ourselves can make.
She needs to love you where you are @ and bring the rest to Christ in prayer.
It is Christ HIMSELF who makes us want to surrender. Not a nag!!
It is your heart she is trying to change and PEOPLE can’t change hearts!!
She needs to LOVE you for better or for worse SHE promised before God. (she is breaking her promise)
You are NOT beyond Gods reach…..he will not let you be content without him forever.
She would be wise to let you live how you choose and offer her concerns up to the only one that can change you.
