Church bells=public disturbance?

I’m a Christian and have nothing against religion, but there is a church down the road that has its church bells going off at random times throughout the day. I don’t mind them on Sunday (it is the church down the road’s day of worship) but they go off every day of the week at different times. They aren’t even bells, it some sort of electronic machine and sometimes the music has nothing to do with church! For example, random music woke me up at 8:30, went off again at 11 and 12 and then started gain at 1:30? They aren’t even marking the passing of the hours?!? Could you call a public disturbance against a church with bells going off all the time with no purpose?
The church just started this bell thing a year ago, and we have been living here for 4 years.

Absolutely.
If somebody down the street was playing his stereo loud enough to wake his neighbors, he would’ve had the cops on him by now. Freedom of religion doesn’t give anybody a license to disturb other peoples’ peace and quiet.

As for the folks here saying that the church might have been there before you and therefore has a right to keep ringing their bells, that idea doesn’t wash. It’s one thing if a railroad or an airport makes a lot of noise, because they’re performing a necessary service for the public and the noise is a necessary result that can’t be avoided. A church is not performing any discernible public service by ringing it’s bells incessantly.
