Gospel Music Biz

I am trying to get into the gospel music industry, but I don’t know how to break into show biz?
1. Go visit all the Christian bookstores in the area and talk to their music person (they’ll often have one person who does all the ordering for music). Ask them if they have any tips and what it would take for them to carry your CD in their inventory.
2. Talk to as many churches as you want and ask if they’ll invite you to perform (even if it’s for free at first), so you start getting some exposure. If you think your music is something the youth can relate to, then contact the youth pastors too, they are easier to get a hold of and they’ll do just about anything to give the students some variety.
3. Get a MySpace Page, start doing a search for people that you think will like your music (people in your local area in the right age group). Send them all Friend Invites (not messages, that’d be spam). It’ll get some traffic to your page and get you some friends on there.
4. Go to the bands’ pages that you are similar to and add them to your friends list (change them to be in your top friends, so people see you are related somehow), and post comments on their web pages periodically so their fans can see you.
That should get you started, hopefully.
