Gospel Music Degree
I want to be an A&R but I don’t know what education can help me get there?
I have my associates in Recording Arts with some knowledge in music business, making records (studio engineering) and I want to be an Artist Repetoire for a major gospel record label. I’m thinking about going back to maybe a community college or even a University to achieve my degree in Business Administration with a Specialization in Event Marketing and Promotion, would that be a good way to approach my endeavers or is there better ways?
If this label is in your area – have you looked for jobs? Try to meet anyone who works there (try searching Myspace or Facebook even). Do people start entry jobs and work their way in, or are they hired into the positions they’re at? You may be better getting any job or internship at the place and working your way up. If they like you they’ll teach you everything you need to know! (at least that’s how it usually works in LA)
